The HR Assistant is responsible for carrying out the responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas: departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organization development and employment.  They must also practice our core values in all that they do:  Honesty and Integrity, Teamwork and Profit Focus.


  • Recruiting and staffing logistics
  • Reviews resumes, conducts phone interviews and schedules interviews accordingly
  • Assisting with the in-person interviews and skills assessment
  • Performs background checks and drug screenings on all new hires
  • Employee orientation, development and training logistics and recordkeeping
  • Assisting with employee relations
  • Reporting all new hires to Social Services in both Missouri and Illinois
  • Compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping
  • Performs follow-up interviews with all new hires within the first three months of employment
  • Employee safety, welfare, wellness and other employee services
  • Maintaining employee files and the HR filing system
  • Processing and following up on COBRA paperwork and payments
  • Assisting with the implementation of services, policies and programs
  • Participates in developing department goals and objectives
  • Assists with the tracking of departmental and company measurements that support the accomplishment of the company’s strategic goals
  • Prepares and maintains reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the Human Resources department.  Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary and to represent the department
  • Reconciles insurance statements on a monthly basis
  • Assists in the development and updating the  HR section of  SharePoint
  • Updating the company’s organizational chart
  • Assists with scheduling 401(k) meetings with the appropriate employees
  • Performance management and improvement tracking systems

Educational Requirements

Bachelors degree is a plus

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a HR related field
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office 365
